I purchased this Air 400XL tent in August 2023 as a replacement for our old steel pole tent that was aging a bit. I love how easily it pitches up and down, and the blackout bedrooms are great for filtering out light. One thing to note is that some people have reported issues with the red guy ropes being invisible at night time.

The only downside to this version over the 4XL/4.1XL is that Berghaus seems to have made a change in their product line, and now they supply RED guy ropes with the 400XL which can be tripping hazards in restricted areas like ours. I had to contact them about this, but they told me to reach out to Blacks instead. After asking Blacks if they could provide green/yellow visible guy ropes as fitted to previous models, they suggested contacting a retailer to find suitable replacements.

I'm glad to have found someone who is willing to help with customer service issues, even when it's just one small problem like this. Overall, I'm really happy with my tent and think it's a great value for the price.

We opted for an expedition tent due to its spacious interior, which was a crucial consideration given our plans for early morning hikes and camping trips. With our daughter having slept in her own bedroom divider, we felt confident enough to venture out into the great outdoors without worrying about the tent's stability. A warm cup of tea had been our go-to comfort after hours spent pitching the tent, where we'd carefully read through the instructions before attempting to set up. The process was a bit fiddly, but we finally managed to get it up and secured in just 15 minutes.
